Sino Matsuda — a Japanese surfer and one of the most promising athletes in this discipline

Sino Matsuda represented Japan at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where surfing debuted as an Olympic discipline. Despite tough competition, her confident performance earned her a reputation as one of the best Japanese athletes in this sport.

In 2024, Sino represented Japan at the Paris Olympics, where the surfing competitions took place on the legendary Teahupoo wave in Tahiti.

Matsuda began competing as a teenager and quickly achieved success at the national level. Her breakthrough came with a victory at the Japanese Junior Surfing Championship.

In 2019, she also won the women’s stage of the World Surf League (WSL) Asia Open, which drew attention from the international sports press.

In the 2024/2025 season, she reached 3rd place at the Krui Pro tournament, earning 3,042 points, and 25th place at the Nias Pro with 720 points.

She was born on August 13, 2002, in the city of Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. From a young age, Sino developed a passion for surfing thanks to her father, who often took her to the beach.

Her surfing style is characterized by aggression and fluidity, making her performances thrilling for audiences. In addition to her athletic career, Sino actively promotes surfing in Japan, especially among young girls.
