The United Kingdom and Ukraine have signed the largest air defense agreement, as announced by Rustem Umerov, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, on his Facebook page.
Under the £1.6 billion contract, Ukraine will receive more than 5,000 LMM (Lightweight Multirole Missile) missiles and launchers. The project will be implemented by Ukrainian enterprises, the British company Thales, and the UK government.
LMM missiles are high-precision interceptors that have proven effective against Shahed drones in battles from 2022 to 2024. Their delivery will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
The financing will be provided by UK Export Finance (UKEF) through a loan program. Additionally, localization of production and technology transfer are planned, enhancing Ukraine’s defense independence.
The project is scheduled to be implemented until 2030.
Earlier, it was reported that Volodymyr Zelensky visited London to participate in a security summit, where an agreement was signed in his presence to provide Ukraine with a British loan for arms procurement.
It was also revealed that Ukrainian forces successfully disrupted the operation of Russian glide bombs by creating powerful radio interference, which threw off their navigation and significantly reduced the accuracy of strikes.
