Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv is ready for peace negotiations and proposed immediate steps to de-escalate the conflict with Russia. He shared this statement on his social media page.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is striving for an end to the war and is awaiting constructive dialogue.
He expressed his willingness to work under Donald Trump's "strong leadership" if it helps achieve lasting peace.
As initial steps, he proposed a prisoner exchange, an end to missile strikes and drone attacks on infrastructure, as well as a ceasefire at sea.
The Ukrainian leader reminded that the United States played a key role in supporting Ukraine's independence. He noted that Trump had provided Ukraine with Javelin systems, which changed the battlefield dynamics.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy expressed regret over a meeting at the White House on Friday, stating that it "did not go as it should have." He called for a more constructive dialogue with Washington.
Kyiv also confirmed its readiness to sign a security and mineral resources agreement at any time and in a convenient format.
Zelenskyy stated that he sees this agreement as an important step toward Ukraine’s long-term stability.
Earlier, it was reported that the United States remains interested in a mining agreement with Ukraine, but Kyiv must be ready for negotiations, stated Vice President Vance.
He emphasized that the U.S. wants a fair deal, considering its financial investments, and finds it unacceptable that Europe is receiving better conditions, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, Ukraine must not only make public statements but also propose concrete steps for conflict resolution.
Vance noted that the U.S. is putting pressure on all sides, including Russia, and insists on ending the war. However, without Ukraine's willingness to negotiate, discussions about peace are impossible.
Previously, it was reported that France and Britain proposed a one-month ceasefire for Ukraine, allowing ground combat to continue but with certain restrictions. Macron explained that this format enables effective control over the situation.
