White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt called the Reuters report about a possible revocation of temporary legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians in the U.S. a "fake." She wrote this on X.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Donald Trump's administration was considering revoking temporary legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians who had fled the war with Russia. The information came from a senior official and three informed sources.

According to the agency, this decision could take effect as early as April 2025, posing a deportation risk for Ukrainian refugees.

This move would mark a sharp policy shift compared to the Biden administration, which had granted Ukrainians humanitarian status.

However, the process of reviewing immigration programs began even before Trump's recent conflict with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In total, the Trump administration plans to strip benefits from more than 1.8 million people who arrived in the U.S. under a simplified procedure.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has not yet provided an official comment. The White House and the Ukrainian embassy have also refrained from making statements.

Earlier, it was reported that following a public dispute with Volodymyr Zelensky, Donald Trump froze military aid to Ukraine, including $3.85 billion worth of weapons supplies.

It was also revealed that a U.S. federal court blocked Trump's executive order canceling birthright citizenship, ruling it unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment.
