U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he does not intend to harm Ukrainians while commenting on media reports about the possible deportation of 240,000 Ukrainian refugees.

He noted that he is reviewing the issue and will make a decision soon.

Speaking at a briefing at the White House, Trump acknowledged the difficult situation of Ukrainians and their concerns.

He also added that opinions on this matter are divided but assured that the administration does not aim to harm Ukrainian refugees.

It should be recalled that earlier, Reuters reported that Donald Trump's administration is considering revoking the temporary legal status of 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the war with Russia.

If the decision is made, it will take effect in April 2025, creating a deportation risk for Ukrainians who sought refuge in the U.S. from the war.

This move sharply contrasts with Biden’s policy, which granted Ukrainians humanitarian status.

Earlier, it was reported that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed with Donald Trump strengthening the alliance, enhancing Europe’s defense capability, and pathways to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

It was also revealed that starting March 12, 2025, the U.S. will introduce a 25% tariff on steel imports from Canada, the EU, Mexico, Ukraine, and other countries, citing national security concerns.
