Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin strongly condemned Conor McGregor’s anti-migration remarks, which were made at the White House before his meeting with Donald Trump.
The famous UFC fighter claimed that Ireland is "losing its identity" due to illegal migration.
During an impromptu press conference at the White House, the 36-year-old McGregor stated that "some Irish cities have been overwhelmed by migrants."
His remarks triggered a strong reaction from the Irish Prime Minister, who emphasized that they "do not reflect the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day or the views of the Irish people."
McGregor has frequently spoken on political issues and has even hinted at a possible run for the Irish presidency.
However, his recent statements have sparked a wave of criticism, particularly amid a legal case in which he was ordered to pay €250,000 in a sexual assault case.
Reminder: Conor McGregor is an Irish MMA fighter and former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion. He was the first fighter in the organization’s history to hold two titles simultaneously. McGregor has also competed in professional boxing.
