On the night of March 18, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) launched massive strikes on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Information about the operation has been published on the IDF website.

The operation was carried out under the directive of the country's political leadership.

The military actions were coordinated from the Air Force headquarters by Chief of General Staff Rafael Eyal Zamir, Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar, and Air Force Commander Tomer Bar.

The aim of the attack was to neutralize terrorist infrastructure and prevent future attacks on Israel.

Additionally, the Home Front Command adjusted the alert level in border areas: restrictions were imposed on educational activities in communities near Gaza.

Residents have been advised to follow official instructions.

Palestinian health authorities reported on Tuesday that 326 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to Reuters.

These strikes disrupted a two-month ceasefire with Hamas, while Israel stated its intent to use force to secure the release of remaining hostages.

It should be recalled that on January 15, 2025, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire. The three-phase plan includes a six-week truce, a prisoner exchange, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and the region’s reconstruction.

The agreement was proposed by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar and was later approved by both parties.
