U.S. President Donald Trump has sent a proposal for a new nuclear deal to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This was announced on Sunday by U.S. special envoy Steven Witkoff during an appearance on Fox News.

According to him, the main goal of this initiative is to prevent military conflict.

"Our message to Iran: let’s sit down at the table and try to achieve results through diplomacy," Witkoff emphasized.

He added that Trump’s stance on nuclear weapons remains firm: Iran must not acquire a nuclear bomb.

Meanwhile, White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz said on CBS News that Washington is seeking the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program.

According to him, Iran must abandon it in a way that is fully transparent to the world. All possible options, including military ones, remain on the table.

It’s worth noting that Axios reported that Donald Trump, via the UAE, sent a letter to Khamenei with a proposal for a new nuclear deal and a two-month deadline for a response. If Iran rejects the offer, the U.S. and Israel may strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The letter was tough: it offered negotiations but warned of consequences. Iran is still reviewing the letter, although Khamenei called the proposal deceptive.

At the same time, Iran’s Foreign Ministry did not rule out talks, as long as they are not aimed at fully dismantling its peaceful nuclear program.
