Early Sunday morning, around 3:45 a.m., an emergency call was made to the police: the bodies of two men and a woman were discovered in a private home in Weitefeld (Altenkirchen district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany).
According to police reports, one person fled the scene upon the arrival of law enforcement and is now actively being searched for.
Special forces (SEK), a police helicopter, and patrol units are operating in the surrounding villages.
As a precaution, local residents have been urged to stay indoors and not pick up hitchhikers.
Preliminary findings suggest that both firearms and bladed weapons may have been used in the attack. Investigators suspect the crime may have been motivated by domestic issues.
A press center has been set up in the local community building. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, it was reported that a high-ranking member of the Russian-speaking criminal underworld was detained in Germany—his location was tracked thanks to a joint operation by Ukrainian and German law enforcement agencies.
