The Italian fashion house Prada S.p.A. announced it has signed an agreement with Capri Holdings to acquire 100% of the Versace brand. The announcement was published by Capri Holdings.

The deal is worth €1.25 billion and will be financed through a new €1.5 billion debt. Versace, founded in 1978, will retain its creative DNA but will now benefit from Prada's production and retail resources.

The acquisition has already been approved by the boards of directors of both companies and is expected to be finalized in the second half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

According to Prada chairman Patrizio Bertelli, the acquisition will strengthen the group's portfolio and mark a new chapter in Versace's history.

Prada is a legendary Italian fashion brand with deep family roots, founded in 1913. From leather bags and travel trunks for aristocrats, it evolved into a global luxury label offering clothing, shoes, accessories, and even space suits.

The Prada family remains the main shareholder. The brand continues to grow, with its key markets in Asia and Europe. In 2023, it earned nearly €5 billion.

Beyond fashion, the company ventures into perfumery, cosmetics, technology, and even regattas.

It was previously reported that in Italy’s Trentino region, an initiative was launched offering up to €100,000 to those who buy and renovate abandoned homes in the Alps. However, participation requires meeting several strict conditions.
