On Wednesday, April 16, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Warsaw for bilateral talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The meeting is scheduled as a working lunch. The main focus will be on strengthening Polish-German relations, current EU policy issues, and key international topics.
Scholz's previous visit to Warsaw took place in July 2024.
At that time, Scholz announced plans to deepen cooperation with Poland to support Ukraine. He emphasized that Russia had undermined European security, and that Germany and Poland remain key allies of Kyiv.
Scholz also expressed intentions to enhance joint efforts within NATO to protect the eastern flank.
In addition, he announced the creation of a memorial in Berlin to honor the victims of the Nazi occupation of Poland and proposed support for elderly Polish citizens affected by the war.
According to him, reparations remain off the table.
It should be recalled that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially dismissed Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his cabinet after early elections.
Scholz will temporarily continue to lead the country until a new cabinet is formed.
In the elections, the CDU/CSU bloc won, the Alternative for Germany party came second, and several parties failed to enter the Bundestag.
