In Cairo, Dutch citizen Jock Vanderbost, a 47-year-old veterinarian, attacked a man who was publicly beating a tied donkey.

The incident occurred in front of passersby and was caught on video, which quickly went viral on social media.

Seeing the animal struggling in agony from the blows, Vanderbost snatched the whip from the abuser's hands, pinned him against a wall, and struck him several times while shouting, "You think this is normal?"

The man's attempt to escape failed — the woman grabbed another whip and chased after him.

Later, he filed a complaint with the police, accusing Vanderbost of assault and causing “psychological harm.”

The woman was detained but later released. Egypt’s Ministry of Interior reported that the abuser had also been arrested.

Jock Vanderbost, the wife of an Egyptian, has lived near the pyramids for many years and provides free treatment to animals at a local veterinary clinic. The video of her intervention reignited discussion on animal protection in Egypt’s tourist areas.
