On April 16, U.S. President Donald Trump sharply condemned the actions of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, calling him incapable of responding promptly to economic challenges.

According to Trump, Powell “messed it up again” with his report and made a serious mistake by not lowering the interest rate, despite falling oil and food prices.

Trump noted that the European Central Bank is preparing for a seventh rate cut, while the Fed remains inactive.

He also stated that the U.S. economy is benefiting from the imposed tariffs and added that “Powell should be fired as soon as possible.”

Such statements increase political pressure on the Fed amid market expectations of potential changes in monetary policy.

It was previously reported that U.S. Senator Adam Schiff called for an investigation into suspected insider trading after Donald Trump posted on social media, causing a sharp stock market surge.
