USA. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with NATO’s new Secretary General Mark Rutte.

During the conversation, he informed him about the peace proposal that had been presented the previous day to the Ukrainian delegation in Paris and to the Russian side by phone.

According to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Rubio emphasized that Washington and President Donald Trump hope the proposal will be accepted and could bring an end to the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, he made it clear that if a clear prospect for a peaceful settlement does not emerge soon, the US will withdraw from its role as mediator in the negotiations.

Meanwhile, the US and Ukraine have preliminarily agreed on granting Washington access to Ukrainian rare earth minerals, which are critically important for the defense industry and green energy.

General Keith Kellogg called this part of a strategy to reduce dependence on China.

The agreement is viewed as a step toward postwar recovery, but its implementation depends on Moscow’s willingness to agree to a ceasefire.
