According to Reuters, the fire broke out during preparations for departure to Atlanta. There were 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots on board.
As reported by AP News, the crew immediately began the evacuation. Passengers exited the cabin using inflatable slides. No injuries were reported.
Airport emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. Delta Air Lines stated that technical specialists would inspect the aircraft to determine the cause, and another plane would be provided for the passengers.
According to The Guardian, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation. The airline emphasized that safety remains a priority.
Earlier it was reported that a tourist helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in New York. There were six people on board, four of whom died. Rescuers recovered the bodies from the water.
