Sweden. On April 22, 2025, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, at a joint press conference with his Lithuanian counterpart Gintautas Paluckas, announced plans by Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Lithuania to jointly purchase several hundred CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.

The aim of the initiative is to accelerate deliveries, reduce costs, and strengthen defense-industrial cooperation between the countries. In the coming months, a declaration of intent is expected to be signed, laying the groundwork for further collaboration.

The CV90 IFVs are manufactured by the Swedish branch of the British company BAE Systems in the city of Örnsköldsvik.

These vehicles have proven to be modern and reliable assets for mechanized units.

The joint procurement reflects the region’s commitment to strengthening defense and deepening security cooperation.

It should be noted that Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson held a meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas in Stockholm.

The leaders discussed enhancing defense cooperation, supporting Ukraine, promoting digital and environmental initiatives in the EU, and reaffirmed NATO unity and plans to increase defense investments.

In turn, Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas thanked Sweden for the reception and emphasized the importance of allied solidarity.
