On Monday, April 28, well-known civil rights advocate and pastor William Barber II was arrested in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, this information was posted on the Facebook page of the organization Repairers of the Breach.
Barber and several of his associates prayed near the statue of suffragists, protesting against budget cuts affecting the poor and working families.
Earlier that day, he had spoken on the Capitol steps and at the Supreme Court building during a "Moral Monday" event.
Capitol Police charged the activists with "obstructing and disrupting the order." Barber called the arrest a call for mass nonviolent action.
The incident occurred just days after the Trump administration created a Justice Department task force to combat "anti-Christian biases."
Earlier it was reported that Senator Adam Schiff called for an investigation into possible insider trading linked to a social media post by Donald Trump, which was followed by a sharp rise in the stock market.
