USA. On June 10, 2025, Brian Wilson — songwriter, producer, and longtime leader of The Beach Boys — passed away at the age of 82.
His official Instagram account announced the news on behalf of his family, asking for privacy.
Wilson was born in 1942 in Inglewood, California, and from a young age showed extraordinary musical talent. In 1961, he founded The Beach Boys, launching a string of hits including "Surfin’ USA" and "California Girls".
His groundbreaking work on the 1966 album Pet Sounds is regarded as one of the greatest achievements in pop music history.
Throughout his life, Wilson battled mental illness and addiction, but continued to create and perform.
He completed his final tour in 2022 and was placed under conservatorship in 2024 following a dementia diagnosis. Wilson is survived by five children and leaves an indelible mark on music history.
It was previously reported that, four decades after its release, Michael Jackson’s album "Thriller" continues to impress with its enduring popularity — despite an overall decline in music sales, it still ranks among Billboard’s top releases, outperforming many modern records.
