Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump held a 50-minute phone call on the evening of June 14.
According to Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, who spoke to TASS, the leaders discussed in detail the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran. Moscow offered to mediate and criticized Israel’s recent airstrikes.
Trump described the situation as “alarming” and agreed to maintain a direct line for urgent communication.
The second key topic was Ukraine. Putin confirmed Russia’s readiness to resume negotiations after June 22, while Washington emphasized the importance of de-escalation and prisoner exchanges.
The two leaders also touched on the state of bilateral relations and expressed willingness to continue dialogue at the expert level. Ushakov described the conversation as substantive, candid, and beneficial for both sides.
Earlier, Donald Trump made a harsh statement regarding the situation around Iran, saying the strikes were only the first step and warning that Tehran is nearing complete isolation and risks facing even tougher measures if it refuses to compromise.
