ISRAEL, June 21. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that on the night of June 21, Israeli Air Force carried out a targeted strike on a residential building in the city of Qom, killing Saeed Izadi — the head of the “Palestinian” division of the IRGC Quds Force, The Times of Israel reports.
According to Tel Aviv, the general coordinated weapons supplies and hundreds of millions of dollars for Hamas, enabling the group to prepare the October 7, 2023 attack; thus, he was included in the Israeli intelligence target list.
Katz called the operation “Israel’s long arm” and “justice for the murdered and hostages.”
Earlier, he published a letter from Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Muhammad Deif addressed to Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani, in which they requested $500 million for an invasion of Israel. According to intelligence, Izadi approved the transfer despite Iran’s economic crisis.
Official Tehran has not acknowledged the loss, and there are no reports of civilian casualties.
Previously, Israel eliminated Iranian General Ali Shadmani in central Tehran just four days after his appointment as Chief of General Staff. The strike was enabled by intelligence data.
Before that, his predecessor Gholam Ali Rashid was killed. Both generals were part of the Supreme Leader’s inner circle and coordinated military ties with proxy groups.
On June 16, Israel killed four senior Iranian intelligence officers in Tehran, including IRGC head Kazemi and his deputies. They coordinated attacks on Israel, supported Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, and oversaw internal repression and foreign sabotage.
