Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that the country will allocate NOK 6.5 billion (over $600 million) for the procurement of drones for Ukraine.

This includes both Ukrainian-made drones and drone technologies from other European countries.

According to Støre, drones have become a key element in Ukraine’s defense — helping to protect vital infrastructure and conduct reconnaissance on the frontlines. This is Norway’s first large-scale procurement of this kind and will be part of the effort to strengthen Ukraine's military capabilities.

Norway officially joined the Drone Capability Coalition in April and had previously declared its intention to more actively support Ukraine’s defense industry.

The funds for drone procurement are part of the overall 2025 aid package for Ukraine, totaling NOK 50 billion.

Defense Minister Torgeir O. Sandvik noted that the priority is to supply what Ukraine itself considers necessary: air defense, artillery, drones, and equipment from its own manufacturers.

In addition, Norway will continue to invest in training Ukrainian troops and reinforcing defense capabilities in the region.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and the United Kingdom agreed to launch a major three-year project for joint drone production, which is already being hailed as a breakthrough in defense cooperation between the two countries.
