USA, June 25. Amazon MGM Studios officially announced that Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film.

This will be the franchise’s first project under Amazon’s leadership following its acquisition of MGM.

The director, known for “Dune,” “Arrival,” and “Blade Runner 2049,” admitted that he’s been a Bond fan since childhood and sees this opportunity as a personal honor.

The film will be produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman, with Tanya Lapointe appointed as executive producer.

According to Villeneuve, he plans to preserve the spirit of the original films while opening the door to new missions. “To me, Bond is sacred territory,” he said.

The decision to entrust the franchise to Villeneuve is due to his outstanding work on major blockbusters with deep storytelling and visual power.

His latest film, “Dune: Part Two,” grossed over $700 million worldwide and received two Academy Awards.

In 2025, Amazon MGM also entered a strategic partnership with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, securing creative control over the Bond intellectual property.

Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins noted: “Denis is a true master, and we’re excited that he will lead 007 into a new era.”
