The Armed Forces of Ukraine delivered a powerful strike on a Russian military headquarters in the village of Korenovo, Kursk region.
The attack took place on July 2 and was one of the most effective in recent times. As a result, Major General Mikhail Gudkov — Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy and Commander of the 155th Separate Guards Marine Brigade — was killed.
According to Russian sources, at least four missiles were launched at the command post, resulting in numerous casualties among the officer corps. Reports indicate more than 10 fatalities, including several senior officers.
Gudkov was born in Novosibirsk, graduated from a military academy, and had served in the Russian army since 2000. During his service, he received numerous awards, including the title of Hero of Russia.
He became a key figure in the naval command — and one of the highest-ranking losses for Russia since the beginning of the war.
Earlier, it was reported that explosions occurred in Izhevsk — a Ukrainian drone attacked the "Kupol" plant, which produces air defense systems for the Russian army, striking a key element of Russia’s air defense infrastructure.
