During the night of July 3 to 4, Russia launched a large-scale air attack on Ukraine, targeting several regions simultaneously. Kyiv was once again the main target — dozens of explosions were heard over the capital, and the air raid alert lasted until 9 a.m.

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the enemy launched around 550 aerial targets, including more than 330 Shahed kamikaze drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles.

Air defense forces shot down 270 targets, and another 208 drones were neutralized using electronic warfare systems. New drone interceptors were also used over cities.

Despite the defenders’ efforts, there were direct hits and destruction in Kyiv, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions. At least 23 people were injured and received medical assistance.

The strike came almost simultaneously with media reports about a conversation between Trump and Putin. Kyiv sees this as a display of cynicism and a threat to peace. Zelensky called on partners, especially the U.S., to increase pressure on Moscow and speed up deliveries of Patriot systems capable of defending against ballistic attacks.

In early June, Russia also carried out one of the largest recent attacks on Ukraine, affecting nine regions. Several rescuers were killed, and many people were injured.
