Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski reported that during the overnight Russian attack on Kyiv, the consular section of the Polish embassy was damaged.
According to him, he has already discussed the situation with Ambassador Bartosz Cichocki. Fortunately, none of the staff were injured. Poland again urged Western partners to urgently strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system.
Warsaw notes that attacks on diplomatic facilities are a violation of international law and a clear sign of escalation.
As a reminder, on the night of July 4, the Russian army launched an unprecedented air assault. From 6:00 p.m. on July 3 to 8:00 a.m. on July 4, 550 strike assets were launched. Kyiv was hit the hardest, attacked from all directions: Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and other regions of Russia.
A total of 539 Shahed attack drones and decoys, 6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 4 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and even a Kinzhal were used. Ukraine’s Air Force, together with air defense units, EW systems, and mobile groups, shot down 478 targets.
Among them, 268 Shaheds were destroyed by fire, and another 208 were suppressed by electronic warfare. Two Iskander-K missiles were also downed.
The General Staff of Ukraine noted that the attack was aimed at exhausting Ukraine’s air defense and terrorizing the civilian population of the capital.
Earlier it was reported that Kyiv was under one of the heaviest strikes since the beginning of the war — according to the head of the KMVA, hundreds of drones and missiles hit the city, damaging dozens of sites and injuring civilians.
