USA — Seventeen members of the U.S. Congress have addressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, demanding the immediate reversal of the decision to freeze the delivery of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

The appeal was initiated by Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, who stated that reducing support for Kyiv amid an ongoing war with Russia is unacceptable.

In their official letter, the lawmakers mention the suspension of supplies of Patriot air defense missiles, 155mm artillery shells, GMLRS rockets, Stinger MANPADS, and guided munitions such as the AIM-7 and AGM-114.

The legislators demand clarification on which specific deliveries have been halted, where the redirected resources are going, and how long Ukraine can maintain its defense efforts without these supplies.

The authors insist on a closed-door briefing and written responses by the end of the month.

They also call for the transfer of $3.8 billion worth of arms to Ukraine under presidential authority, as well as an additional $300 million under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

Congress has expressed readiness to ensure the replenishment of U.S. military stockpiles.

Earlier, Washington temporarily halted the transfer of certain weapons to Ukraine, including missiles and shells, citing the need to prioritize U.S. national security interests.
