WASHINGTON, USA — On July 4, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump signed the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which includes the largest tax and government spending cuts in U.S. history.
The signing ceremony took place on the South Lawn of the White House during the annual military family picnic.
The bill reduces spending by $1.7 trillion, including cuts to Medicaid and increased immigration enforcement.
It also expands tax deductions, including a larger child tax credit.
The signing was accompanied by an air show featuring B-2 and F-22 aircraft.
Democrats criticized the bill for endangering low-income Americans and the healthcare system, citing risks of rural clinic closures.
Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries spent nearly nine hours speaking against the initiative.
Earlier, Elon Musk sharply criticized U.S. lawmakers for supporting the national debt increase, vowing they would lose their primaries. Trump responded by calling Musk a product of subsidies, saying that without them he “would have gone back to South Africa.”
Musk launched a poll on X, in which 80% supported forming a new political party, and added the phrase “vox populi, vox Dei,” hinting at possible political ambitions.
