FRANCE — During a speech in Roquefort, French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the recent conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

According to Macron, Russia continues to reject compromises on Ukraine, and peace can only be achieved through increased international pressure.

He noted that France has already adopted its 18th package of sanctions and expects similar action from the U.S. Senate.

Macron stressed the importance of continuing arms supplies to Kyiv, despite rumors of possible restrictions from the United States.

He called the recent U.S. decisions “technical” and said they should not be overinterpreted.

The French leader expressed confidence that the U.S. will continue to play a key role in supporting Ukraine and emphasized the need for a “just and lasting peace” on Ukrainian terms.

As a reminder, President Emmanuel Macron visited Roquefort-sur-Soulzon to mark the 100th anniversary of the protected designation of origin status for the famous cheese.

Roquefort production brings together over 2,600 farmers and plays a key role in the economy of the Aveyron region, supporting agriculture, jobs, and rural development. The product is exported to dozens of countries.

Earlier, Donald Trump admitted that his recent conversation with Vladimir Putin did not result in any breakthrough on Ukraine.

He said the discussion lasted nearly an hour and addressed not only the war but also the situation in the Middle East.

However, no agreement was reached on a ceasefire. Trump stated that the U.S. would continue to support Ukraine but must also replenish its own military stockpiles.
