UNITED KINGDOM — Spain international Martin Zubimendi has signed for London club Arsenal on a long-term contract following his move from Real Sociedad.

During his time with the Basque side, he made 236 appearances, winning the 2019/20 Copa del Rey and helping the team qualify for the Champions League after the 2022/23 season.

With the national team, Zubimendi won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, lifted the 2023 Nations League trophy, and played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 final victory over England.

At Arsenal, he will wear the number 36 shirt. The club’s sporting director stated that Zubimendi was a top priority signing, while head coach Mikel Arteta emphasized that the midfielder would strengthen the team with his intelligence and consistent performance level.

It was previously reported that Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 3–2 in a high-scoring match to reach the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals — goals from García and Mbappé proved decisive. The German team fought back in the closing stages, but Madrid held on to advance and eliminate their opponent from the tournament.
