Ukrainian Olga Kharlan won the gold medal at the World Cup in saber fencing, defeating opponents in Peru
Olga Kharlan, an outstanding fencer from Ukraine, achieved remarkable success by winning the gold medal at the international fencing competitions held in the capital of Peru, Lima. This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
This triumph became her first gold medal of the current season and added a victorious page to her sports biography, increasing her total number of medals at similar events to 31, of which 14 are gold.
Before becoming the champion in Peru, Kharlan had already made a statement by winning silver at the previous stage of the World Cup in Algeria.
On her way to gold in Peru, she successively defeated opponents from different countries, including French fencer Sara Balzer, World Champion from Hungary Liza Pusztai, and American Elizabeth Tartakovsky, demonstrating the highest level of skill and strategic thinking.
In the final, Kharlan faced Hungarian opponent Sugar Katinka Battai and secured a convincing victory with a score of 15:6, which was a bright confirmation of her undisputed dominance in this sport.
The last gold medal Kharlan won at similar competitions was in 2019.
It was previously reported that on May 12 in Perth at the RAC Arena, a fight between Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos will take place, where they will compete for the IBF lightweight title.
