At the international art and antiques fair Tefaf, considered an important event in the art world and taking place in Maastricht, a portrait painting by the renowned Dutch master Vincent van Gogh was sold, reports NOS.
The piece, depicting an elderly woman in a white bonnet and painted in 1884 in the town of Nuenen, was acquired for an amount exceeding 4.5 million euros.
The sale was conducted by the American gallery M.S. Rau, and the buyer was a private individual owning a private museum outside of Europe, accessible to the general public, although the exact location of the museum is not specified.
