France raises the level of terrorist threat after the attack in Russia

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced on social network X that following the terrorist act at "Crocus City Hall" in the Moscow region, for which "Islamic State" claimed responsibility, France has decided to maximally increase the level of terrorist threat.

Previously, President Emmanuel Macron convened a meeting of the National Defense and Security Council, where potential threats to the country were discussed.

The elevation of the Vigipirate system to the "exceptional terrorist threat" status occurred against the backdrop of threats facing the country.

The American embassy in France warned US citizens about the possibility of attacks on places of mass gatherings, noting that the attacks could occur without prior warning.

This decision was made following the Hamas attack on Israel in 2023.
