President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the government of Belgium for supporting Ukraine and cooperating in strengthening Europe's security.

He noted that the countries have reached a new level of relations, which is especially important given the current situation.

On his social media page, Zelenskyy wrote: "Alexander, Mr. Prime Minister, I am grateful for the ambitious and substantial security agreement between our states. Right now, when Russia is trying to expand and prolong the war, we need as many concrete steps as possible that bring peace closer."

The President emphasized that the agreement includes the delivery of 30 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and financial support of nearly one billion euros from Belgium this year.

Additionally, Zelenskyy thanked the Belgian government for its unwavering support of Ukraine's efforts and joint work on Ukraine's accession to the European Union and NATO.

An important topic of discussion was the 1.7 billion euros that Ukraine will receive this year from the revenues of frozen Russian assets.

The President expressed special gratitude to Prime Minister Alexander De Croo for supporting the Global Peace Summit, which will begin on June 15.

Earlier, the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib announced that Belgium would deliver 30 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by 2028. She made this statement on May 28.

Lahbib specified that the first aircraft would be delivered by the end of this year. The finalization of commitments will take place during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, when a security agreement between Ukraine and Belgium will be signed.
