At the Mesko armament factory in Skarżysko-Kamienna, central Poland, a serious accident occurred. A powerful explosion happened at the rocket fuel production center, causing a fire, as reported on the Mesko website.

At the time of the incident, two employees were inside the building, one of whom died, and the other was injured. A third person, who was outside, escaped injury.

According to Elżbieta Śreniawska, the president of the factory, in an interview with RMF24, the explosion occurred in a recently opened center that had been put into operation just a few years ago.

Firefighters and rescuers quickly arrived at the scene, and the fire was extinguished after a few hours. The injured person was evacuated by ambulance, and their life is not in danger.

The 59-year-old employee who died in the explosion had been working at the factory for several years.

The factory management has already started investigating the causes of the incident and has created a special commission for a detailed study of the circumstances of the incident.

Elżbieta Śreniawska noted that all processes at the enterprise are carefully monitored, and what happened was a great shock to everyone.

The police and the prosecutor's office have also started an investigation, gathering data and interviewing witnesses.

The local police spokesman, Deputy Commissioner Jarosław Gwoźdź, stated that the incident would be thoroughly investigated to clarify all the details and prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Experts are still working at the scene to determine the exact causes of the explosion. The Mesko factory, which is an important part of Poland's defense complex, has suspended operations until the investigation is completed.

It was previously reported that a large fire engulfed a shopping center in Warsaw on the night of May 12, completely destroying the building; 250 firefighters fought the blaze, and no casualties or injuries were recorded.
