In anticipation of the film's release, Oleksandr Usyk's team (22-0, 14 KOs) appealed to the International Boxing Federation (IBF) with a request for an exception to allow the title of undisputed world champion to be at stake again in a rematch with Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). IBF President Daryl Peoples confirmed this information to Boxing Scene.
It was previously reported that the IBF title was to be contested on June 1 by Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois.
If the IBF satisfies Usyk's team's request, the Ukrainian will be able to retain the title of undisputed world champion until the rematch with Fury, which could take place as early as October.
It is worth noting that Oleksandr Usyk has already achieved his sixth victory over British boxers, including the recent fight with Tyson Fury.
