TikTok has introduced a new app called Whee, designed for sharing photos exclusively with close friends.
Whee is positioned as a space for authentic sharing of real-life moments, accessible only to friends.
On the app's pages in Google Play you can see screenshots that showcase a camera viewfinder, a friends list for messaging, and a publication feed.
The description says that Whee is a new social app created for connecting with close friends in unexpected moments of life. Share genuine photos, accessible only to your friends, which helps you remain true to yourself. Whee is the ideal platform for sharing life events with close friends.
Currently, the app is available only for Android-based devices and has already been spread to more than a dozen countries; however, the U.S. is not yet on this list.
Whee is also absent from the iOS App Store.
TikTok and its parent company ByteDance have not provided comments regarding this novelty.
Earlier, the Chinese company ByteDance announced that it is investing $1.5 billion in the Indonesian platform Tokopedia, aiming to bring TikTok back to the Indonesian market after regulatory changes.
It was also reported that Meta Platforms has introduced a feature in Instagram and Threads that allows limiting the amount of political content.
