President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced significant advances of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of Russia.

During a conversation with the heads of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions, Zelensky stated that Ukrainian forces currently control over 1,250 square kilometers of territory and 92 settlements in this region.

According to Zelensky, the operation conducted by Ukrainian forces is aimed at protecting specific areas of the Kursk region and holds strategic importance for Ukraine.

The President noted that one of the main goals of this operation is the liberation of Ukrainians from Russian captivity, and that a large number of prisoners have already been captured during a single military operation.

Zelensky emphasized the need for stabilization of positions and strengthening of the controlled territories.

However, he pointed out that it is not yet possible to publicly disclose information about which units are participating in the operation and in which areas of the Kursk region they are operating.

The President expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian military for their courage and successful completion of the assigned tasks, adding that the operation to liberate territories and defend Ukraine continues.
