Meta is reintroducing facial recognition technology on Facebook and Instagram, three years after it was disabled. The information was published on Meta.

Now it will be used to fight fraudulent ads and restore access to user accounts. Celebrities and public figures will be the first to test this feature.

The technology will help identify fraudulent ads that use photos of well-known people.

Meta will compare images with celebrity profiles and block suspicious ads.

In addition, the company is testing a tool for account recovery through video selfies.

Users will be able to upload a video to verify their identity if they experience issues accessing their account.

Meta claims that the collected data will be deleted immediately after use and will not be used for any other purposes.

The technology will begin rolling out in the coming weeks, but for now, it will not be available in Illinois, Texas, the UK, and the EU.
