Ukrainian drone attacked missile testing range from which Russia launched "Oreshnik"
An explosion caused by a drone near the gates of the Kapustin Yar testing range in the Astrakhan region damaged the facility's perimeter fences. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported neutralizing 16 Ukrainian drones.
In the Astrakhan region, an explosion occurred at the Kapustin Yar military testing range, reportedly caused by an attack by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, according to Russian media sources.
The incident took place near the gates of a facility used for ballistic missile testing. The blast wave damaged the testing range's fences.
According to Russian sources, local air defense systems managed to shoot down the drone just meters away from the range's entrance. There has been no official confirmation from the Russian Ministry of Defense as of now.
The Ministry only reported a nighttime attack involving 16 Ukrainian drones in other regions: 14 were intercepted in the Bryansk region, and one each in the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
The Kapustin Yar testing range is known as a key site for ballistic missile launches.
Previously, a missile launch of the "Oreshnik" system targeting the city of Dnipro in Ukraine was carried out from this location. The incident may be linked to retaliatory actions, though no official statements have been made by Ukraine.
Earlier, it was reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Syrskyi, announced that Ukrainian forces are successfully advancing in the Zaporizhzhia direction while holding off Russian attacks on strategically critical frontlines.
It was also revealed that Ukrainian forces successfully struck key targets in the occupied territory overnight on November 29, destroying a radar system of the Buk-M3 air defense system and hitting an oil depot.
