The U.S. Will Provide Ukraine with a Record Amount of Military and Financial Aid, White House Statement
The White House accelerates military support for Ukraine: new weapons, sanctions against Russia, and multibillion-dollar loans are expected to change the dynamics of the conflict.
The White House is actively developing a strategy for large-scale military and economic aid to Ukraine aimed at accelerating the resolution of the conflict with Russia, as reported by The Guardian.
According to a representative of the U.S. National Security Council, the aid package includes the delivery of hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, and hundreds of armored vehicles, which are planned to be transferred by mid-January.
Additionally, the U.S. has proposed training Ukrainian servicemen outside the country to address the shortage of personnel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Simultaneously, negotiations are concluding on providing Ukraine with a $20 billion loan secured by revenues from frozen Russian assets.
These measures were discussed during a meeting between National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, which took place in Washington.
The talks lasted more than an hour and also covered new sanctions against Russia aimed at reducing its ability to continue the war.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Yermak, held meetings in Washington, New York, and Florida with representatives of the U.S. government, including Senator Lindsey Graham and Congressman Joe Wilson, according to information published on the Office of the President's website.
Yermak emphasized the importance of continued support for Ukraine and presented symbolic flags of Ukrainian brigades as a token of gratitude.
These events coincide with the dispatch of the largest military aid package to Ukraine, amounting to $725 million. The White House believes that expanding support will strengthen Kyiv's position in potential peace negotiations.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s team, preparing for his inauguration, is discussing peace initiatives that might include Ukraine refraining from NATO membership and making territorial concessions.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian diplomats continue to actively work with U.S. representatives to maintain the high level of current assistance and counteract Russia’s plans.
Earlier, it was reported that the EU and the U.S. will provide €106.6 million to DTEK for restoring Ukraine's energy system after Russian attacks and strengthening thermal power plant protection in winter to ensure light and heat for millions of citizens.
It also became known that the Pentagon announced a review of the U.S. nuclear strategy to counter threats from China and Russia, including modernizing the arsenal and strengthening partnerships with allies.
