The US allocated $20 billion to Ukraine as part of the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) Loans program, the US Department of the Treasury reported.

The funds, disbursed through the F.O.R.T.I.S. Ukraine FIF Fund of the World Bank, were made available by frozen Russian assets.

According to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, this money will help ensure the functioning of emergency services, hospitals, and other critical systems. The ERA program shifts the financial burden onto the aggressor rather than G7 taxpayers.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the G7 countries have frozen Russian assets and continue to use them to support Ukraine.

These measures aim to increase pressure on Moscow, demanding the cessation of aggression and compensation for damages.

Simultaneously, the US State Department approved the sale of F-16 fighter jet support and maintenance services to Ukraine, as reported by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

The $266.4 million contract includes the supply of mission planning systems, software, spare parts, and training for Ukrainian specialists.

Key contractors will include Lockheed Martin and Pratt and Whitney from the US, as well as Belgium’s Sabena.

The sale aims to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, which is particularly critical given current and future threats. The deal aligns with US foreign policy goals of bolstering stability in Europe and does not disrupt the military balance in the region.

The funds will help Ukraine integrate the new equipment into its armed forces without requiring additional American personnel.

The final cost of the contract will be determined within the framework of signed agreements and the budgetary capabilities of the parties involved.

Previously, it was reported that the US would allocate $988 million to Ukraine for military support, including ammunition for HIMARS, drones, spare parts, and technical assistance, according to the Pentagon.

Additionally, it was announced that the EU and US will provide €106.6 million to DTEK for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy system after attacks and to protect thermal power plants in winter, ensuring millions of Ukrainians have light and heat.
