On December 29, 2024, Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away. The announcement was made by current President Joe Biden, who noted that Carter left an indelible mark on U.S. history and the world.

A national mourning period of 30 days has been declared in honor of this exceptional statesman.

Carter was born in 1924 in Plains, Georgia, to a farming family. His career began in the U.S. Navy, where he rose to the rank of lieutenant and worked on nuclear submarines.

In 1953, he returned to his hometown to manage the family farm. However, his passion for public service soon led him to a career in politics.

As president, serving from 1977 to 1981, Carter initiated the creation of the Departments of Energy and Education, signed the historic Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, and worked to curb the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

After his presidency, Carter dedicated himself to humanitarian efforts: championing human rights, building homes for those in need, eradicating diseases, and promoting peace initiatives. His Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 recognized his contributions to global stability.

President Biden has designated January 9, 2025, as a National Day of Mourning, urging Americans to gather in places of worship to honor Carter's memory. Flags on all government buildings will be flown at half-staff for a month, and the armed forces will pay tribute in his honor.

The life of Jimmy Carter, filled with faith, dedication to humanity, and a relentless pursuit of peace, will remain an inspiring legacy for future generations.

Earlier, it was reported that New Jersey had recorded approximately 5,000 reports of drones spotted near military and critical infrastructure. The FBI and other agencies are investigating the incidents to assess potential national security threats.

It was also revealed that the Pentagon announced a review of the U.S. nuclear strategy to counter threats from China and Russia, focusing on modernizing the arsenal and strengthening alliances.
