Ukrainian forces break through in Kursk region: details of the new offensive
Ukrainian forces advanced 2.7 km during the first day of their offensive in the Kursk region, utilizing unique electronic warfare technology.
Ukrainian forces have launched a new offensive in several areas of Russia's Kursk region, as reported by multiple sources.
According to OSINT analyst Def Mon, who gathers information from open sources, Ukrainian forces advanced 2.7 km in the first 24 hours, as confirmed by geolocated footage published by Russian media. Videos show combat east of Berdyn Hamlet and west of Novosotnytsky Settlement.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) map indicates that Ukrainian forces have secured positions in southern Berdyn, nearing the road leading to Novosotnytsky.
Serhiy Leshchenko, an advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, highlighted the use of advanced electronic warfare (EW) systems as a critical factor in the success. These systems temporarily "blinded" Russian drones, ensuring the safe movement of Ukrainian troops across open terrain, as he mentioned during a televised marathon.
The offensive was confirmed by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, and the Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Andriy Kovalenko. ISW analysts note that the Ukrainian army achieved tactical success in at least three areas of the front.
A distinctive feature of this operation is the application of new technologies, minimizing losses and creating unpredictability for the enemy.
Leshchenko noted that the Russian side has yet to determine whether this offensive is the main thrust or a diversionary maneuver.
The operation involves Ukraine’s most combat-ready units, including airborne assault brigades equipped with advanced Western weaponry.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian Special Operations Forces gained control of a village in the Kursk region, successfully displacing both Russian troops and North Korean units, according to command reports.
It was also revealed that Ukrainian forces set a new record by destroying 181 Russian vehicles in a single day, surpassing the highest daily equipment losses suffered by the occupiers in 2022.
