On the night of January 14, a series of explosions rocked five cities in Russia, causing massive fires at strategic facilities. Enterprises involved in the production of weapon components, oil refining, and air defense systems were affected. This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, on his Telegram channel.

Among the affected facilities was a chemical plant in Bryansk, which produces gunpowder, solid fuel components for missiles, and explosives. This plant is crucial for the production of artillery ammunition and missiles for the Russian army.

According to Kovalenko, the "Silicon" plant, specializing in manufacturing microchips for missile systems, Pantsir air defense systems, and drones, was also impacted.

In addition to Bryansk, strikes targeted oil refineries and storage facilities in Engels, Saratov, and Kazan. Eyewitnesses on social media reported a series of impacts preceding the fires.

Andriy Kovalenko emphasized that Russian air defense once again failed to protect strategic facilities, which could significantly weaken the country's economy in supporting military needs.

The causes of the explosions and the full extent of the damage are not yet specified.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian forces had captured North Korean soldiers fighting on Russia's side for the first time. The prisoners provided valuable testimony confirming their involvement in the conflict.

It was also revealed that a powerful explosion at Millerovo airfield in Russia's Rostov region, an important aviation hub, disrupted military plans for operations in Ukraine's southern and eastern directions.
