Zelensky and Trump Discuss Peace, Technology, and Cooperation with the U.S.: Details of the Phone Talks

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had an extensive conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they discussed ways to achieve peace and joint efforts at the team level, Zelensky announced on his social media.

Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's readiness for cooperation, including technological advancements, particularly in drones and other advanced sectors. He expressed gratitude to Trump for his interest in Ukraine’s potential.

The meeting between Zelensky and Minister of Economy Scott Bessent was also discussed. Work is underway on a new document concerning security, economic cooperation, and resource partnerships.

According to Zelensky, Trump shared details of his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated that no one desires peace more than Ukrainians and highlighted the importance of cooperation with the U.S. to counter Russian aggression.

The parties agreed to maintain contact and plan further meetings.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump reported on a productive phone conversation with Vladimir Putin. The politicians discussed the war in Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, and artificial intelligence.

The central topic was Ukraine. According to Trump, both leaders agreed that "millions of deaths must be stopped."

He announced the start of a negotiation process and plans to discuss the conversation’s outcome with Volodymyr Zelensky. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been appointed as the key U.S. negotiator.

Earlier, it was reported that starting from March 12, 2025, the U.S. is reinstating a 25% tariff on steel imports from Canada, the EU, Mexico, Ukraine, and other countries, citing national security concerns.

It also became known that the White House plans to cancel subscriptions to Politico, on which it previously spent millions of dollars. According to the press secretary, this is part of Trump’s initiative to review government expenditures.
