Today, a Russian drone attacked the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, damaging the new protective confinement of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP), according to Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sibiga.

The strike caused a fire, posing a threat to radiation safety in the region. Minister Andriy Sibiga confirmed the attack and called on the global community to take decisive action.

At the Munich Security Conference, which opened today, February 14, discussions are underway about the need to pressure Russia to prevent a global catastrophe.

Summit participants state that without strict measures, the world risks facing an uncontrolled escalation of the conflict.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at the Munich conference that the attack on ChNPP was deliberate, proving Russia's systematic threat to nuclear facilities.

The drone flew at an altitude of 85 meters, remaining invisible to radars. After the explosion, a fire broke out but was quickly extinguished. The radiation level remains normal, but the damage to the shelter is considered significant.

The shelter over the destroyed reactor unit was built through joint efforts of Ukraine, European countries, and the United States to contain radiation. The attack demonstrates Russia’s willingness to jeopardize global security.

According to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, all emergency services are engaged in mitigating the consequences. There are no casualties, and the radiation levels remain within safe limits.

Rescue teams are dismantling parts of the shelter over the ruined fourth reactor unit to detect potential smoldering areas. The situation is under control, and data has been transmitted to the EU Emergency Coordination Center.

Earlier reports indicated that intelligence suggests a possible Russian invasion of Poland or Lithuania, as warned by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, Moscow plans to reinforce its army by 150,000 troops, which could be preparation for further aggression.

It was also revealed that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump held phone talks discussing peace, cooperation with the U.S., and Ukraine’s technological development.
