Today, the US Department of Justice announced President Donald Trump's intent to appoint John Eisenberg, Brett Shumate, and Patrick Davis to key positions in the agency. The information was published on the official website of the US Department of Justice.

Eisenberg has been nominated for the position of Assistant Attorney General for National Security. He previously worked in this field during Trump's first term, serving as a National Security Council advisor and holding positions within the Department of Justice.

Shumate is set to lead the Civil Division. He has already acted in this role and previously worked at the law firm Jones Day.

Davis has been nominated as head of the Office of Legislative Affairs. He has served at the Department of Justice three times and was involved in the "Russiagate" investigation and the confirmation process of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

The appointments must be confirmed by the Senate.

Earlier, it was reported that the US President signed an order temporarily suspending investigations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) for 180 days, citing necessary measures to protect the country's economic security.

Additionally, it has been announced that starting March 12, 2025, the US will reintroduce a 25% tariff on steel imports from Canada, the EU, Mexico, Ukraine, and other countries, justifying the move as a national security measure.
