Pope Francis continues his treatment in the hospital, where he was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. This was reported by the Holy See’s press office, with information published on the Vatican's website.

According to the Vatican, the illness is complicated by a polyinfection that has developed against the background of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis. This requires the use of corticosteroids and antibiotics, which complicates the treatment process.

Additional examinations conducted by doctors at the "A. Gemelli" hospital confirmed the development of pneumonia, necessitating intensified medication therapy.

Despite his serious condition, the Pope remains in good spirits. He has received the Eucharist, spends time in prayer and reading, and expresses gratitude for the support.

The Vatican is asking believers to continue praying for his health.

Earlier, it was reported that the Vatican adjusted the Jubilee program for artists due to Pope Francis’ illness. The Holy See’s press office announced that the Jubilee audience, originally scheduled for February 15, has been canceled.

The papal Mass on February 16 took place, but it was led by Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça. The meeting with artists on February 17 at the Cinecittà film studio was also canceled, as the Pope will not be able to attend.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian Mykola Bychok will become the youngest cardinal among the 21 newly appointed ones, as announced by Pope Francis on October 6. The cardinals represent 13 countries, including Ukraine, and their official induction took place on December 8.

It was also revealed that Pope Francis is visiting Indonesia for the first time in 30 years, marking the beginning of his two-week tour of the Asia-Pacific region. During the visit, he will hold interfaith meetings and celebrate Mass for 80,000 believers.
