Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly has revealed new details about the upcoming G7 foreign ministers' meeting, which will take place in Charlevoix, Quebec, from March 12 to 14, 2025, as reported on the Canadian government's website.

As the G7 chair in 2025, Canada is organizing the meeting to address global challenges and strengthen international cooperation.

The main focus will be on supporting Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression, stabilizing the situation in the Middle East, and addressing crises in Haiti, Venezuela, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ministers will also discuss global security and economic stability, including the interconnection between security in the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions.

Canada aims to use its presidency to advance initiatives that promote international peace, trade, and sustainable development.

The meeting in Charlevoix will serve as a key step in preparing for the G7 summit, which will take place in Kananaskis, Alberta, in June 2025.

Earlier, it was reported that at the 2025 Munich Conference, Canada announced a $17.2 million aid package for Ukraine, including funding for demining, cybersecurity protection, and the supply of necessary equipment.

It was also revealed that starting March 12, 2025, the U.S. will reintroduce a 25% tariff on steel imports from Canada, the EU, Mexico, Ukraine, and other countries, citing national security concerns.
