The Swedish Coast Guard has reported new damage to an underwater cable in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Gotland, as reported by TV4.

The incident affected the C-Lion1 cable, which connects Finland and Germany. This marks the third case of damage to this line in a short period.

The information has been confirmed by the Swedish military and police, who have launched an investigation under the sabotage article. Authorities note that this classification allows for the deployment of all necessary resources to determine the circumstances of the incident.

According to media reports, the damage was recorded in Sweden’s economic zone. The Coast Guard has dispatched a patrol vessel to the suspected breakage site. Authorities in Finland and Germany have also been informed and are ready to provide assistance.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that the government is receiving updates on the situation. He emphasized that any incident involving infrastructure in the Baltic Sea is considered in the context of the complex geopolitical situation.

Earlier reports indicated that the fiber-optic C-Lion1 cable, running between Finland and Germany along the Nord Stream pipelines, had been damaged. The causes of the incident remain unclear, but it affects critically important international communications.

It has also been reported that Finnish investigators are examining a mysterious 30-kilometer trail on the seabed of the Gulf of Finland left by the tanker Eagle S, investigating the circumstances and possible causes of the incident.
